A couple of year back, I happened to read an article on how important it is for nations to be self-sufficient in terms of their energy needs and what can happen if they are not. And so I decided to do my own research on where India stood in terms of energy self-sufficiency. (Here is my presentation on why we need to go solar which I have presented on multiple occasions to educational institutes and various corporates & industries.) While the situation isn’t dire right now, it will become dire if we don’t take the right steps in the next 25-30 years. That is why I am happy to be the CTO of Cenergy Maxpower because it gives me the opportunity to make a difference.

The Indian government is doing its part to encourage the adoption of solar technologies through JNNSM and the MNRE capital subsidy on solar equipment. It is one of the main reasons why the Indian solar market is buzzing to say the least. I hope it stays that way in the years to come as well.

When we talk about solar and other renewable energy sources, one of the main drawbacks is that they are “not 100% reliable”, or “infirmed” as they say. What is required to “firm them” or “time-shift them” (i.e. use the generated energy at a later time) is reliable energy storage mechanisms, which is why they are a very important part of our product portfolio today and will always be.

Lead acid batteries are quite popular because they are “proven” and incur relatively low capital costs. I am happy to partner with EverExceed and offer their FLA (Flooded Lead Acid) batteries as well as VRLA batteries (with offerings in both VRLA AGM and VRLA Gel batteries) to the Indian market. EverExceed’s batteries are best-in-class and give a great value for money.

Many other new energy storage technology options are also opening up. I am keeping myself abreast of all these exciting developments and will bring them to the Indian market as soon as they become economically viable and “appropriate” for the Indian market.

In the solar category, we have a full bouquet of products: solar PV modules (polycrystalline and monocrystalline), solar inverters, solar pump controllers, solar charge controllers, and solar street light controllers.

While it is essential to have a full range of products, I never let myself forget that people want solutions to address their pain areas. So I keep talking to people to find out their pain areas and coming up with solutions to address them; that is something that I absolutely love to do and will always keep doing it. We have four complete, end-to-end solutions right now, but you can be sure that I will keep adding to that number.

Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you…
